The Battle Of Britain
OpelBlitz Tankwagen Kfz.385
Item Number: #2808
Features Included
The Opel Blitz was the main truck used by the German army in
World War II. She deployed him in huge numbers on all fronts, thanks to which
Blitz rightly earned the reputation of a hard worker and tug of the Wehrmacht.
Thanks to the combination of a sturdy frame, a robust system of fixed axles
with leaf springs and twin rear wheels, it was able to carry over 3 tons of
payload. The 3.6-liter engine was easy to maintain and delivered 75 horsepower.
Thanks to its excellent flexibility, Blitz has served as a platform for the
development of several special versions such as Kfz. 385 "Tankwagen",
which was used by the German Luftwaffe as the most common refuelling truck. In
addition, the Blitz did well in the field, so it could operate on emergency
landing areas without modified runways, which were typical of bases in Africa
and Russia during the war. The tank version was equipped with a rear fuel tank
with a transfer system, a simplified cabin with a canvas roof and an exhaust
silencer, which was also relocated to allow safe refuelling of aircraft.
For adult collectors age 14 and over
